Microsoft Teams Direct Routing
Calls via Teams are now easier than ever. Use one platform to make internal, external and international calls.
in 2021 Skype for Business will be retired to make way for Microsoft Teams
The reason for this is that there’s a demand for more from collaboration platforms. Microsoft Teams has much better quality calls and the ability to integrate with voice applications. This opens up an opportunity for you.
As an IT reseller, you probably have all the knowledge when it comes to Microsoft Teams, but when you integrate Teams with eve Voice, you open up a whole new solution to add to your portfolio.
in 2021, Microsoft Teams reached over 145 million daily active users.
Direct Routing Teams calls via eve
Direct Routing allows Teams users to make calls from Teams to numbers outside of their organisation. This can mean mobile, landline and international numbers.
Historically this has been expensive. Integrating Teams with eve Voice makes Direct Routing chargeable at the cost of standard rate calls from a landline. eve Voice presents a platform for you to make Teams voice calls over the eve network at a much lower cost than before, charged as a user fee.
It also allows you to add bolt-on products to Teams users, such as Inbound numbers, Call Recording, Hunt Groups, IVR, Call Queues and all the features you can utilise on eve Voice.
There is a session border control which acts as a bridge between Teams and eve Voice. At eve Networks we have purpose built a solution that makes this bridging as easy as possible for you to add into your customers’ accounts. Our auto-configuration tool means you simply need to input some of your customer details and the configuration will process from there.
The configuration means that calls made from the user’s Teams account outside of the platform will go across the eve Voice network, effectively creating a Teams phone system.
This is charged per user, which reduces the cost of a manual configuration process enormously and saves you and your customer time.

Microsoft’s Calling Plans have previously worked well for smaller businesses. They use Microsoft’s own networks to place calls via Teams. Microsoft’s Call Plans have a fixed call bundle and are expensive in comparison with Direct Routing. Microsoft’s Call Plans do allow for calls to international destinations, although the destinations available are currently very limited. There is also a sparse support function within Microsoft to deal with customer queries, meaning issues can remain unresolved for long periods of time.
Direct Routing with eve is a cost-effective solution, charged per user at usual call rates. It allows you to call any destination and enables a whole host of eve Voice’s additional benefits. With a dedicated support team on hand within eve Networks, you and your customers can rest assured that you’re supported if ever you need us.
Microsoft’s E3 license bundle includes basic Teams collaboration functionality, but excludes Audio calls and Phone System, which can be added separately.
The E5 license includes Teams functionality, Audio Calls and Phone System all bundled in.
Microsoft also offers numerous add-on licences for more advanced features. Here are a few relevant options to consider:
Audio Conferencing — enables attendees to join a Teams meeting by dialing a number from a “traditional” telephone.
Toll free numbers — toll-free numbers for Audio Conferencing, auto attendants, or call queues.

eve Voice Teams calling plan
We have created our own eve Voice calling plan that includes 5,000 minutes, with the option for eve Voice’s extra features to be set up, as well as the option to add on international calling. This is a cost-effective solution for small businesses that maintain a steady number of calls which remain relatively consistent on a monthly basis.
