Microsoft Teams has seen a huge increase in users in the past couple of years.
We have learned to work from wherever necessary. As a result, many workplaces may be working across multiple platforms, using different numbers and methods of getting in touch.
It has become the norm to call colleagues via Teams and use their mobiles or desk phones to place external calls. Now, there’s the option to make and receive all calls via Teams using Direct Routing.
Direct routing for Teams – what is it?
In short, Direct Routing for Teams is the ability to make and receive calls from one number, using the Teams platform to do it. You can redirect inbound calls to your mobile or desk phone number to come in via Teams and place outbound calls presenting that same number. So everything is in one, easy to use platform.
What do you need?
Of course, to make calls you’ll need a phone system. This can be a physical PBX with SIP trunks on-site, or a hosted solution in The Cloud. This will enable call functionality within Teams.
Connectivity
A good internet connection to make and receive calls via the Teams platform.
Microsoft Teams licence
You’ll need a Teams Business Premium or E1, E3, E5 licence to allow for Direct Routing.
